Meet the Directors...
Brian Williamson
Qualifications: HNC Business Administration, BA Marketing
After qualifying with a BA in Marketing from The University of Paisley in 1995 Brian joined Evergreen Marine (UK) Ltd, a far east based business that operates in the shipping, aviation and leisure industries. Brian was responsible for securing contracts for the lucrative worldwide export trade from Scotland and the North of England. Customers included Chivas Regal, Morrison Bowmore, Diageo, Tennants Caledonian and Wilkinson Sword.
In 1999 Brian joined Diageo as part of a new team of Business Development Managers. After a highly successful year in the Scottish Highlands concentrating on Bells Whisky, Gordons Gin, Smirnoff Vodka and the newly launched Smirnoff Ice Brian moved to the Morgan Furze side of the portfolio and the strategically important territory of Glasgow City Centre. This role saw Brian growing the sales and presence of brands like Jack Daniels, Southern Comfort, Tanqueray Gin, Baileys, Johnnie Walker and J&B Whisky amongst others.
In 2002 Brian was approached by Halewood International to launch their products into the Scottish On-trade and was given the newly created role of Scottish Regional Manager. Within twelve months Brian had taken Red Square Vodka into the top ten vodkas in the UK on trade. Further on trade success followed with Lambrini, Red Square Reloaded and VS.
In 2007 Brian became Marketing Manager at Europes largest touring theatre company which entertains over 2 million children every year. After three happy years Brian was approached by Kevin Williamson and Robin Murray to join Ekko Glass. Brian became a shareholder and Director in Ekko Waste Solutions in 2010 and currently oversees the running of the business. Brian is married with three young sons, a German Shepherd called "Bear" and has many interests he doesn't get time to pursue!
Robin Murray
Qualifications: BA Business Information Technology
Robin was educated at Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh before graduating from The University of Paisley with a BA in Business Information Technology.
Robin joined McConechy's Tyre Service in 1995 as Assistant Manager of the Ayr Retail Branch. After several years learning his trade within the retail, commercial and wholesale division Robin was promoted to Area Manager responsible for the running and development of 8 strategic retail branches. After greatly increasing turnover and profit across his territory Robin became a company shareholder in 2001. Shortly after, Robin was given the challenging role of Company Quality Manager. This role included creating and implementing a workable single standard for all 50 McConechy branches to adhere to.
In 2008 and with the impeccable timing which has become his trademark, Robin sold his shareholding within the company and concentrated on setting up a portfolio of investments. Later that year Robin was introduced to Ekko Glass, instantly seeing the potential Robin joined as a shareholder and Director and has been instrumental in setting up Ekko systems and developing the Franchise offering.
Robin is married with two young daughters, in his spare time Robin pursues his passion for skiing, sailing and golf. Robin is the skipper of a 40ft racing yacht and has led his "Team Elf" to various accolades including Overall winner of the West Highland Week 2010.
Kevin Williamson
Qualifications: HND Hospitality Management
After leaving school Kevin studied Hospitality Management at the renowned Queens College in Glasgow. While working at some of the top venues in the Hospitality industry Kevin had the pleasure of serving the likes of Princess Diana, Luciano Pavarotti and John Travolta.
With a desire to serve the community Kevin joined Strathclyde Police in 1992, after five years of public service Kevin decided to join the family business which he eventually bought out in 2003. Taking advantage of the strong economic climate of the time Kevin started a property development company which now includes a portfolio of both residential and commercial properties.
While looking for new opportunities Kevin became aware that there was huge potential for waste recycling in the commercial market. After much investigation Kevin helped set up Ekko Glass, a research and development company whose remit was to develop and manufacture a glass crushing machine specifically designed for the licensed trade. It was that vision that led to the creation of Ekko Waste Solutions Ltd in 2010.
Kevin is married with two children, a former rugby player Kevin enjoys coaching his local youth team, spending time with his family and drinking red wine!
